Our way is the RP takes whomever is on break's seat. Lately I've had captains give up both legs so FOs could get landings. The old standard was CA always flew over and FO flew back. Now it's about 50/50 over or back. Most guys will give you a choice.
I know this has the potential to sound like another food fight, but I think I like our way much better. Being junior I would always be stuck with first break on your system, even if it was my leg. Trying to land in high winds and crappy wx in JFK or London with no sleep would not be safe.

I'm slightly nicer, on a daylight leg I usually offer the junior guy choice of break. If the junior guy has a currency problem for TO or landing I usually help him out, sometimes by switching breaks, sometimes by keeping breaks but swapping seats at TOC or TOD.
