Maybe it is just me..... But if a manager at HQ is assigned to go to a city for a period of 24 hours, does DAL pay him for 12 hours and leave him with the hotel bill? Why should we as pilots even consider accepting anything less than what a manager get? It is simply the cost of doing business as far as I am concerned, but then again... maybe it is just me..
I'm being facetious but careful what you ask for, I've got friends who work at the HQ who do Delta business in New York City for days at a time but there hotel cost rules basically forces them to get hotels outside NY and commute in- daily. I don't think we necessarily want to be on par with that.
