Does this sound plausible?

Scenario is a training/positioning type flight in an RJ. The two pilots are accompanied by a couple of other employees in the back. The aircraft is taxied out an airport with long taxiways and runways, so they delay starting the second engine. And I mean REALLY delay...

The story as told to me is they took off without ever starting the 2nd engine. Obviously the plane was very light, but could this really have happened?
