From Seattle Times:
JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD — Three years ago, Sgt. Sean Harvell drove into a Taliban ambush in a southern Afghanistan village. He was knocked unconscious by shrapnel but eventually revived.
Bleeding from numerous wounds, he fired back at the enemy with his M-4 carbine while directing airstrikes that came perilously close to his own position.
"I just came to, and tried to gather my faculties as much as I could," Harvell said. "You can't call a time out."
Harvell is a combat air controller, a member of an elite Air Force group joining U.S. special-operations ground forces on extended missions.
