Just curious - what would your "position" be on the issues that can and will be addressed by the MECs during the merger? Do you really need them to tell you a "position" at this moment? I think your MEC might be busy right now.

You do a job that sometimes requires you to focus on doing important tasks as well as possible, without informing the passengers exactly what you're doing...and why. Maybe the MECs are handling this correctly right now, and you're too stuck in the passenger mode to appreciate what its like up front?
