The 50's can barely make it above 30k and have all kinds of weight issues. They should be "feed" not destination flights: I.e. Sbn-Ord, pia-Ord not Sfo-Sat, or Lax-Dfw.
I'd check your source on that. CRJ 200's perhaps but not EMB 145's. The 145's regularly fly at 35 or 37 and have a range at minimum over 1000nm with the XR's closer to 2000nm
