Actually Jetmech answer is spot on. The difference you are seeing is due to applying LEAN principles. FX MX IMHO is very ineffeciant. I see a lot of waste here the reason it was never really addressed is that FX used to make an insane amount of profit regardless so it didn't really matter. After this economic disaster the company really is going full bore with this LEAN in every dept. Also the FAA is actually looking quite close at all the airlines now including FX. If you want to see a blatent look the other way in regards to the FAA look no further than the NWA mechanics strike in 2005
