So could someone please explain to me why Delta would hire more Compass/Mesaba guys than they have to? The flow means they have to train 2 people, the one hired at Delta and the one hired to replace the previous pilot at Compass. If I were Delta, I wouldn't flow more than I was contractually bound to.
Flow up keeps the longevity down and therefore keeps costs down. Replace a Captain making $100/hr with a new Captain making $60. That's one reason I can see flow up being beneficial to the company.
