Haven't we done various and sundry OT's in the past? Did we have to trade something with management to get them? When the SOT provides some good recommendations are we then going to "buy" the enhancements?
Does the company
ever give us a contractual language improvement in exchange for ALPA's promise to "make every attempt" or to form an advisory group
I'm underwhelmed. I hope we aim a little higher in 2012.
And what was the quid? You are not going to get a bunch of hard long term contractual gains for a small item like this. The SOT is actually the best way to try to get changes for free, because you can find ways to benefit pilots without significant cost changes. Some items that have smaller costs will be obtained as a result of this. The items that are significant cost changes can be identified and then debated at the MEC.
If we are going to make significant improvements to our work rules, then the process needs to start now. This is a great way to get that started. Waiting until 2012 is silly. I am underwhelmed by your lack of strategic vision.
