There are just as many hoops to jump through to get a decent job in civilian aviation. The only difference is that the military gives you steady pay and benefits in the process.

I said I will look into air national guard to see all the guidelines and look for things the could raise flags for qualifications.
Don't screw yourself because somebody else had a bad experience.

Coming from AD you are used to being housed, fed, and taken care of. If you start from zero in civilian aviation, you are essentially homeless and unemployed. What are going to do for food, housing, and medical care? Medical insurance is probably over $1000/month and flight schools and entry-level aviation employers do not offer medical or any other benefits.

Want a week off from your instructor job? If they even let you, it will be no-pay.

If you can possibly swing it, go for military aviation...it's a much better deal at the entry level. If you happen to be a misfit as an enlisted person, you probably won't last long in civilian aviation either.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the people here are all experienced. There are plenty of folks in aviation who will tell you EXACTLY what you want to hear, and it will sound too good to be true...flight schools and all the other folks who want to take your money.
