personally I think the rebranding is because when people used to see that ASA logo on the side of an RJ coming towards the gate it always represented a late arrival or departure...this gives em a fresh start?
Simple. Comair is on the chopping block to be liquidated to pay off the LEX losses. Mesaba and Compass would be the remaining wholly owned carriers. They want to eliminate the Compass flow through, so they will be shutting down Compass and selling the assets. That leaves Mesaba, and it's not worth keeping one small wholly owned, so they will be selling them as an airline the way they did with ASA. SKW Inc has proven they can run a good airline, so Delta knows their feed is secure.
