If there are chronic violations, I agree with you. There needs to be something to stop it. But if it is... what seems to be the majority of the cases.. an oversight, or simply a mistake made in the heat of battle, I think a grievance is more than likely not warranted. Sir...do you really believe that professional schedulers really make those type of mistakes...in the heat of battle? I've been flying these friendly skies since 1987, and i can tell you that they don't make mistakes, they make assignments to cover the flights.
Call them out. Ask to speak to their manager, and if they still assign a trip which you believe is not in compliance with the CBA, then yes contact ALPA for immediate remedy, but also file a grievance to help your Bubbas out.
