A few points on this topic:

1. I am not sure that "elected to work for someone else" is the best choice of words after an "involuntary" furlough. Now, if the individual was never furloughed, and just took MIL leave your statement would be much more accurate.

2. How do you think DAL's big international expansion would be going without the US military actively fighting against terrorism? Specifically, the US military is working hard to deny potential terrorists safe havens where they could safely learn their trade - you know, things like how to blow up airliners and such?

Lastly - If anyone is going into the Captains seat after 10 years its news to me. Not that I would mind.
