60 second Authorized Personal Drop Primer:

Personal drops (PD) are unlimited but you need positive reserve coverage. The Authorized Personal Drop (APD) is basically a PD on steroids - it will work down to 25% coverage, but you only get 1 per anniversary year. There are certain major holidays restrictions with the APD, but if I wanted off for a restricted holiday I would still submit an APD and hope for the best.

APD example, 12 reserves required and 5 available. The PD would not work but the APD would. An APD is good for one regular pairing or up to 4 consecutive days of reserve coverage. Even if you only use your APD for 1 day of reserve coverage you are done with your APD for the year. You cannot pick on any kind of flying on days dropped with your APD.
