As the guy that is only allowed to poor coffee, I am still learning the cargo airline business, as I came from the pax side. Can someone explain the big deal about the "open space" on the 747, and why it is so bad? It is always mentioned as a negative to the 747, and I understand the advantage of the 380 with the three decks. If we need lift it seems like the next best thing would be the 747. I know we had 747s from Tigers and they didn't work for whatever reason, but the airline is a different airline currently. For what it is worth, I am a June 05 new hire and we were told the 400s were a done deal until Airbus offered a great deal on the the 380s.
