The locals there aren't as ****y as most of us think. You'll still find trash on the sidewalk, people jaywalking, and everything you'd find in a civilized society. Walk along the quay, the Raffles landing site, then across to the boat quay, plenty of nice restaurants. Check out the various indoor food markets. Excellent food choices, cheap prices!
