It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that we would be way overweight in a 152. I told him this and then he asked me if we could do all the dual in a 172 and all of his solo time in a 152.

So what do I do? Do I just fly the 152 overweight? Do I do the majority of the dual in the 172 but still do enough in the 152 so I can sign him off for solo? Do I tell him he must do ALL of it in the 172? I'm kind puzzled here. Thanks.
I would say just have him do everything in the 172 or lose weight.

And/or have him climb into a 152 and sit there for 45 minutes and move all the controls... and then ask him
