Here is a list of deductions that generally come out of your paycheck 1st year:
-Federal withholdings
-Medicare
-FICA
-State withholdings
-Long Term Disability (if company offers it, you are required to pay)
-Short Term Disability (if company offers it, you are required to pay)
-Uniform Deduction (if you have to buy your own at first, and if you elect to not buy it outright and have it deducted from your paycheck)
*optional*
-Health Insurance
-Denal Insurance
-401k (if company offers it)
On a $1,800 guarantee, you will see roughly in the neighborhood of $1,200 to $1,300 AFTER the above items (assuming 10% into 401k).
You will only pay union dues if you are at a carrier with a union (you knew that LOL) and after one year longevity, at least with ALPA. So you won't pay the 1.95% your first year.
Crashpads don't get deducted from you paycheck, they aren't run by the airline. Depending on where you are, they can run from $100 - $300+.
I just read your post, medical insurance for a family will probably run you $150-$250 depending on the plan. It's expensive. Hope your wife has a job

!!
To expand on boilerup's post - once you are a lineholder and don't spend your per diem (Comair's is pretty good BTW, we are only at $1.60/hr) your $$ with increase dramatically, at least 50% more.
