Default Thank you Irish Pilot

It is definitely true I have not lost my passsion to fly only my ability to justify it. I was pumped up also when I was nearing completion of my degree and would soon begin instructing (pre 9/11)! What a difference several years can make.

Another important thing to remember is you do not have to fly for a living to be a pilot. Many pilots no longer fly for their primary job or do it purely recreationally. This type of flying can also be rewarding and even more satisfying because you are free of the constant worry.

I do think ego also has a lot to do with things as being a professional aviator has a certain prestige and romance about it. However, much less than in the past. Now it seems to have become more of a blue collar job that demands an excutive level of commitment.
