1) hard to keep a shirt nice and tidy after 4 days of max duty days and reduced rest.
2) backpacks CAN look nice if they are a good design, not your college Jansport. Look at those chic leather messenger bags for something classy.
3) I'm sick of being scolded for not looking professional. For the last 10 years we've been beaten to a pulp, making a fraction of what we should, and in constant fear for our jobs. Yeah pilots are the face of the airline and should dress accordingly, but in the end it's just human to look like you feel. I don't think you'll find a pilot out there who doesn't feel as worn and wrinkled as the pilot shirt they're wearing.
