How about moving on to a topic that is more fun. A week or so ago, I predicted a 2Q profit of $588 million based on the company's public disclosure. That would put them at about $400 million up for the year since they lost about $200 million in 1Q. If they make another $600 million in 3Q and stay flat for 4Q, that would give them a profit of $1 billion for the year.
If they make a billion then $150 million will go to profit sharing (15%). Pilots are about 1/3 of payroll so $50 million would go to pilots. Assuming a split of around 11,000 pilots that would make an average profit sharing check of $4,500 per pilot. Last time they paid the profit sharing check on Valentines Day.
It is much more fun to speculate on profit sharing. What say you?
