Whether you're stuck on reserve with only 70 hours or senior lineholder who thinks 70 hours/month is plenty of work for a full time pilot we should translate our annual goal based on a 70 hour month. For pilots that desire to work more, more power to them (that's what white slips and green slips are for) but let's not base our pay expectations on anything more than 70 hours/month.
I 100% agree 100% of the time.
Especially since, if I'm not mistaken, if we all flew 70 hours +/- 5 then wouldn't we need more pilots not only at the bottom but in every category? Not saying we should self limit, just that if that was the system and it wasn't a "if you fly over time you can make a decent salary"-
ish system.
Beats RJ flying though: after a few years if you fly 30 hard hours of overtime a month then you could, not will, but could make the typical starting salary of a public school teacher!
