You're both 100% spot on.

The issue to me is crony capitalism in the part 121 world but as to 135 carriers its a matter of the safety, operational control and security rules we live by in the 121 world being blocked by the NBAA and friends because of undue hardship it'd create.

BTW, why leave being a Chief Pilot to go back to 121? Well, one reason is because corporate was a dead end job everywhere I looked. And even good companies like Bellsouth here in ATL can be gone in an instant. I'll take my chances with the majors where the airplanes are the money makers and not an expense, no matter how the accountant rightfully spins in.
