It was an ABV trip with a 72 hour layover. I still have no idea why I didn't get it.

Denny, the guy who got it (good friend of mine) did not put a slip in for it and didn't really want the trip. Reading the PWA I can't see the schedulers logic regarding this. I'm sitting short call the following day, the trip is the following day, I YS it with one day into my off day. I did not get it but the guy who didn't slip it and was on long call got it. I'm just trying to understand the PWA but right now it doesn't make sense to me. Maybe it's me, maybe it's the schedulers....

Not quite sure I understand the question. If the trip is more than 12 hours out, why wouldn't they use a long call guy? Is his raw score lower than yours with his yellow slip in? I'm probably not understanding the question but I don't see where the problem is. Number 4 in the list is long call pilots and number 5 is short call pilots.
