Read that to mean CHEAP qualified pilots. If the price to hire comes up, there will be plenty of applicants, even with the (cheap) "pilot shortage".
Exactly, the only pool it's going to reduce the size of, is the number of 250 hour college grads they can throw $16K/year at.
Peez, the spirit of this is more a reaction to the Colgan crash. Maybe it would have prevented it, maybe it wouldn't. I agree that back ground and past history should play a role, but lets be honest, the regionals just want you to be able to fog a mirror. This IS ultimately a stop in the right direction. I can hear the screams and crying at McKay and Doolittle from here.
