As for pilots, they are still seen by passengers. How much we're seen compared to FA's is irelelvant. There's a reason that our employers wants us to wear uniforms. To have a double standard is hypocrisy.
Double standard or not, Spackler is right. We are getting smoked by foreign carriers in this area. How much FA's are seen compared to pilots is NOT irrelevant.
I flew Singapore Air once and witnessed the FA's have a sharp looking out fit for boarding, one for departure, then changed into one for dinner service, then changed into one for arrival. Each FA looked like she was off the cover of Vogue. They could have served me a leather boot and A1 sauce with an O'Douls and I would not have minded looking at those FA's.
Then I get back to the states, fly domestic on a legacy and every FA looked like Anne Ramsey with the attitude of pit viper.
It makes a difference.....a HUGE difference.
