Wow. I was hired by NWA in 1987, and offered employment by PAA, AMR and DAL. I had considerably less time and qualifications than those being interviewed and hired now.
I flew with Captains who were hired in 1965 with less than 300 hours TOTAL time.
My point is, it's very competitive now because no one is hiring, and a few airlines still have significant numbers of pilots still on the street.

Oh, and why did I select NWA over all others? They had the highest percentage of WB to NB, No B scale, owned all their jets, had no outstanding debt (paid off the Republic merger in 2 years

) Man they were going places.
Fast forward 3 years to the Chechi LBO, and the subsequent slide to BK.
