Ultimately it is our fault for accepting a low paying job. Of course it goes a bit deeper with the carrot of one day making the big$$ being dangled in front of you. The mantra of seniority and dues paying (total B.S in my opinion) keeps the sheep coming in for the slaughter.
I had a little chat with one of the big wigs from my MEC last week about national seniority lists. I expressed a need for one and he agreed. He also let me know that it will never happen. I also agreed with him. Unions have us shackled to a seniority number. Management knows you most likely will not leave a crap company to go to a better one and start back at the bottom again. There is no reason for management to EVER pay or treat you better. Like a battered house wife we stick with a company no matter how hard they pimp slap us.
RLA has neutered the power of unions. ALPA is as useless as a mall cop with his walkie talkie and flashlight. They know this and they keep taking 2% a month anyway. ALPA is in the union business. Period.
