I have a friend who flies for Cathay Pacific. A fun job but not for a family man. I have other friends who fly for middle eastern companies. Again, great pictures on facebook but no personal life.
If you are willing to sell off all your friends, family and country you can see the world. I wanted a career to build a stable life upon. Not an open ended life of living out of a suitcase.
Most of my friends would get out if they could.

I won't make comments about what "most" of my friends want because I don't know, but I can tell you that this pilot is living HIS dream. I'm simply showing you that there is another side to your story and you seem to not want to accept it.
I say good for you for getting out of a profession that wasn't working for you and good for another that seems to have met with success.
