Question for an AWABS expert. We took off from HNL last night with a 757-300. AWABS gave us a flaps 5 (179K V2, yikes) off of 08L. What is interesting is that MGL never let you use 8L due to a climb limit. Any idea what the difference is? Flaps 5 vs flaps 15?
I don't know how AWABS figures it out, but I remember at my previous airline, we would use Flaps 0 rather than 15 at times for takeoff. It was for better second segment climb - we used it in Mexico at high elevation airport with terrain on the departure.
We used lots of runway, but once we were airborne, we climbed pretty good. This was in a Falcon 20.
