Or they could raise ticket prices. This is something that will affect the industry as a whole. In the past the legacies had to compete with the low-cost air carriers with pricing but this will also affect those guys. After 9/11 taxes and fees became effective and passengers just got used to it. I see a gradual increase in price to absorb the extra cost.
