I just posted the Transition Job Security Protections from the TA in another thread here. You might want to check out the 7-B (ii) regarding offers of employment. I don't know how long one can "stand on the sidelines".

My interpretation of that was that you could turn down the offer to go to CAL and just wait for your recall from UAL. Turning down the position at CAL should not affect your recall rights at UAL. Once the lists are combined, they will have to publish what the new rules are for furlough recalls (for those still out).
