Tar Heel (sorry for your choice of teams),

I fly for Continental, and was based in Newark for 2 1/2 years. I was in a crashpad in beautiful (not) Elizabeth, NJ. We had a guy that flew for AirNet as a single-pilot Baron Captain. I'm not sure if he had a 1-hour callout, but I think that's about the amount of time it took to get from EWR to TEB. It was truly a crashpad, he didn't "live" there, though he was there all the time. As of last year, that crashpad was $260/mo. If you live elsewhere, it might be worth it to try the crashpad for a few months before you overcommit to something you might not be happy with.
