Most of the folks I knew who needed to go home on the weekends were married and had to deal with the Mrs. whining about missing the Mr. or little Johnny was having trouble and need his father, and those folks were WELL beyond jr. high.
It was free advice worth every penny you pay for it. I agree a few hours off clears the head, but even now, in my forties, a trip home to see my parents and siblings is FAR from a vacation.
I just wanted to give the guy some food for thought. But clearly, Captain, you are far wiser than I.
You guys are such kidders..... you know darn well that going home to your "supposed" family is not allowed.... you need all the time you have to get to know your new Colgan family members.... after all you really need to know how to do your paperwork fast, how to stay in tip top operating condition to be a profitable entity for the company, and learn that CFM/FOM backwards and forwards.... yeah... and start growing your lip hairs for Mustache March.
