That being said they can and will call you to verify the mil leave and they may call your commander or equivalent to see about your mil leave. For example if you take one day of Mil Leave on 25 December you can pretty much expect a call to your CC. Both times this year I have had mil leave over a holiday I received a call from one of the CPs. I did not feel threatened or harassed and I had no issues. Since then I have gone in and introduced myself to the CP so he can put a name to a face.

Unfortunately this policy is in place because there are a VERY FEW guys that may be cheating the system.

The policy is definitely a pain in the butt, but I can see why they might need it. I dropped 6 weeks last year to go TDY and had to get CP approval because it included Valentines day. I don't think a lot of guys drop 6 weeks of MIL LV (non-pay by the way) just to get off on Valentines day but a few chumps apparently ruined it for everyone.
