See that is the dumbest thing I have heard yet. Seems as if the rookies these days are just making up excuses and somehow rationalizing the fact that since it's too expensive to BUY experience they should be granted an exception. Safety is safety and experience is experience.

Flying around the patter a million times will make you a better pilot if you let it. Of course it won't make you that much better of a pilot but much better than one that has the bare minimums.

The catch here is why does everyone thinks in order to get to the minimum hour req to be hired by a 121 operator, you are just going to fly around the pattern for 1500 hours. If you are not assertive enough to go out and mix it up, well flying may not be for you. Flight instructing enough to meet the requirements is tough but I would say that a lot of people went that route because it's convenient.

If many people have done it, (had to have 2000TT before they could fly a jet in scheduled operations) anyone could do it. It's probably hard for you to see but if you truly want to be a career oriented pilot you will see it one day.
