Sad to report that the pilot of the DHC-3 has been confirmed as the former Base Chief Pilot at Alaska Airlines who retired several years ago. He grew up flying in Alaska, probably had over 25,000 hours of flight time and owned many aircraft from cubs to flying boats. Tragically, his son in law passed away last week in the C-17 accident at Elmendorf AFB. Truly a horrible week for this family and all aviation in Alaska.
