The perspective some SKW folks have on this point is incredible. You are stuck up to your necks in the middle of this merger whether you care to acknowledge it to yourselves or not. I think the sane pilots at the ASA and XJT hope to see this happen.
The XJT Houston guy who started this thread needs to recalibrate himself on what matters in airline mergers. It is not aircraft performance or comfort by the way.
And to you ASA guys who think XJT is a money losing operation, just check out our CASMs vs. yours. XJT is losing money because we were essentially forced at gunpoint to sign up for a profitless contract. Do you think maybe CAL forced that on us so a buyout would also be forced on us? CAL has pulled the strings on XJT since the day they spun us off. This is just the final chapter of a company that has always been a tool of a major airline and nothing more. CAL said we would be profitable for 4 years in 2001 so they could pocket their IPO cash, and we were profitable. CAL said we would operate for a loss and be sold, and guess what?
We can't control this stuff to a great extent, but we at XJT are going to try to preserve our successorship sections of our CBA as best we can. And if we are able to do that then the next question we at the new SKW need to ask is, how do we prevent the whipsaw AFTER the 3 way merger, because I guarantee you buying a new whipsaw carrier will be SKW mngmt. priority number 1 if we manage to get a 7,000 pilot single list. XJT scope section should be part of the new JCBA.
