If it's cheaper for him to merge them, then that's what he'd do to. Just aquiring the assets, I don't believe is ALWAYS the best option for Jerry, and as of yet, hasn't been the best option.
Let me put it this way, he will do whatever he can to prevent any union for his SKW pilots. If that means only buying non-union airlines, buying them and keeping them separate, buying them and only merging them with the unionized side, or just buying the assets.
