But it isn't considered rest either. If your reserve period is 0800-2000 and they call you at 18:29 (with a 90 minute callout, doesn't matter either way though) they can only use you until Midnight. They don't consider reserve when looking at the contractually (at CHQ) required 14 hour duty day but the FARs take affect with the 8 hours rest in the previous 24 hours.
Also at CHQ once we are notified of a reserve trip we don't have to answer our phone anymore. Just show up and fly your trip.
The Fatigue option is also always a good reservists tool and used often here at CHQ. Just took a plane from a crew that called in fatigued twice in 2 days. Good stuff.
