I was able to get out of a trip once because my home reserve started at 4:35 am, but they escalated me to ready reserve PM, which starts at noon. The tried to give me an overnight, but it wasn't legal since it I would have only had a 7:53 minute look back in the previous 24 hours. Even then, it took some explaining on the phone to multiple schedulers and a scheduling supervisor for them to believe I was right. Not my rule. It's the FAAs, and you can't waive those.
