At least when they say "thank you for your attention" or "thank you for saving my a$$" I know what I am being thanked for. But saying "thank you" just because you don't know how else to end your statement? Worthless.

Umm...would you rather they say F*&K you? What was the point in even posting this? To answer your question, they are simply thanking you in advance for the question that they asked. No wonder some pilots get a reputation for being *********S.
