I know they work well in general, but I would day for some purposes a set of clamps is best. Namely, any type of flying where you might disturb the wires with frequent head turning or shuffling things around in the cockpit. Tail gunners definitely need clamps . If you can sit still then an earplug-type set like C/A would probably be fine and might even be better. It is a fact that earplug-type passive noise reduction is equal or better than active clamp-style noise reduction. But they are close.
