The big picture. The above kind of thinking kills me. Because we have a fence we can not get any more 777 or 747s. Who cares. The best movement for the entire pilot group is a new ship at the top pay scale. That opens seat all the way down the food chain. Who would most likely bid the 747A seat? Probably a 330A guy, now who can bid that seat??? Who will probably bid a 777A seat? Probably a 765A guy and now who can bid that seat? In the interest of keeping peace, there is a lot of validity to keeping the 747 around until the fences come down. .

I'd love to see more of either type, note that I said at least 16 of each. I understand completely that more jets at the top rate is good for all of us. However, I don't expect there to be any negotiating capital spent on separating the pay rates for the two jets until the fences come down. Not saying that's the right answer, just saying that's what I expect.
