Airline tech always seems to lag behind the times. The Dot Matrix printer is a great example. My printer at home spits out at 45ppm and I paid less than $250 for it. I can't tell you how many times I've had to delay a flight while waiting on the paperwork.
Well, Actually, in LAS and LAX the airlines don't OWN the computer equipment (including the computers) - it's up to the individual airport to replace those things (I'm not sure Delta could put in their own computers and printers even if they wanted to). I've seen some REALLY OLD AND SLOW computers while gate agents were looking up CASS listing me for the jumpseat/flight while I was commuting to/from work. Anybody who knows better feel free to correct me. Stop Dissing Delta IT for this particular one (there's plenty of other things to get on them for).
