From what I was told, the incident that you cited above had a lot to do with CAL's PC Profile (B756) from this past year while doing all the E.O. Profile work in SFO....interesting.

I would bet the UAL 9 month vs the CAL Annual Sim thrashing will have a lot to do with which Operating Certificate they use post merger. Will be interesting to see what training changes come about fleets wide come post merger. Without a doubt, I'm sure they will push for the most 'economical' path....unfortunately.
Hopefully a new combined UAL/CAL "Yellow Book" will be out so we will be able to famililarize ourselves with who's who. You can't always go by what kind of jewelry is hanging on the tie
