Every reserve day is long call(12 hours min notice) and you can be converted to short call 6 times a month.

My experience thus far has been Day 1 of reserve I get a trip or short call. Once I'm in base they usually find something for me to do. My experience on reserve has been a busy one, but I'm on the 320 and we are short staffed which is why it's going to newhires. We need more people on it. The opposite extreme is the ATL M88 category or MSP M88 category. Those reserve guys have been sitting on their thumbs doing squat so experiences will vary, but it is possible to sit around on long call reserve and work very little. Guys on ATL 767 were working about 6 days a month last year.
