The race car circuit and small aircraft operations are definitely linked from way back. Small airplanes have been the favorite way for race drivers and their teams to get around since the early 1950s. If you look throughout the Unites States, countless small airfields are co-located with automobile race tracks. I am from the South, Talladega and Hampton Motor Speedway are a couple that come to mind. Flying the patch with race cars outdoing your own ground speed below is a little odd, but it's a heck of a view.
