Even more disheartening for me today than sealing up freedom was learning of Bill Hodgett's death in CVG (comair ramp supervisor). In my 16 years of bouncing from base to base in standard Mesa fashion, I've never had the pleasure to work with a nicer guy... He was a dedicated, upstanding individual who always had a positive attitude - no matter what. I'll never forget stepping off the ERJ in CVG on the eve of the demise of DL's A concourse "slaughter" of 800+ comair ramp employees and finding Bill in the smoking room. "Bill, what are u gonna do now?" His response- " got on at the other end of the field with DHL- pay is not great, but I'm happy- more time with the family and I still have a job here at the airport". Bill(and other rampers and gate agents at CVG) told us that we were the best group of pilots he had worked with. He will be missed.
