A. VACATION ACCRUAL
1. Vacation time will accrue based upon Company seniority date, by month of active service and days will be credited on December 31 for use in the following year.
2. Pilots will accrue vacation at the following rates:
Years of Service Calendar Weeks
1 year 2
5 years 3
15 years 4
20 + years 5
3. Effective January 1, 2000, a pilot who completes twenty (20) years of service during 1999, will be eligible for 5 weeks of vacation in the year 2000.
4. A pilot who has completed less than a full year of active service by December 31, will be eligible for prorated vacation (at the rate of 1.167 days per month) for the following calendar year.
5. If a pilot is hired on or before the 15th of any month, he will be considered to have completed that month of service.

Its not necessary, unless you dont want to go insane by being stuck at the hotel for 6 weeks straight
Sometimes groups of newhires will pitch in and rent a car for a weekend to go out on the town. I havent been to our new hotel location, but have heard there isnt a heck of a lot close by for entertainment.
